British Canoeing Paddle award Discovery

Ardingly is the perfect venue for learning to kayak and experience the freedom of paddling an individual kayak. By the end of this one day course you should have gained your British Canoeing Paddle Discovery Award.

The Paddle Award Discovery has been created to provide you with an introduction to a range of paddling skills in closed cockpit or Sit on Top Kayaks. No previous experience is necessary. We will get you on the water using the most up to date British Canoeing coaching techniques. You’ll discover the fundamentals of paddling that are both fun and challenging. The course will cover launching, paddling forwards and backwards, safe capsizing and a variety of useful paddle strokes. It’s the perfect start to getting out on the water to paddle for the first time.

Great emphasis is paid to safety, fun and effective instruction.

British Canoeing Paddle Award Explore

The British Canoeing Paddle award Explore is a training course that covers and develops the basic strokes and techniques on flat water as well as introducing more advanced capsize technique and methods of rescue. It is designed for people who have completed The BC Paddle Discover course, spent a minimum of five hours practicing but want to further their skills and knowledge, the emphasis is on creating the desired movement of the boat through developing an understanding of cause and effect rather than concentrating on rigidly defined strokes. This course helps develop your paddling experience and confidence.
